Today I mourn the end of my peace and quiet, at least my small amount I have had since school started in August. My boys begin summer vacation today at 1:30 pm. At exactly 1:31 I become the shuttle driver to basketball camp, art lessons, swim lessons, safety town, pottery class, nature camps, and play dates. I'm tired thinking about it. But the fighting around the house on the days when they have no activities planned is even worse. There are wonderful bright spots of summer break; I'm not a completely horrible mother. I love hanging out on the porch reading them books, drinking iced tea and making friendship bracelets with them and playing catch in the yard. My favorite thing is watching them catch lighting bugs – right up until the point they rip off the glowey part and smoosh it into a line on the driveway, or better yet, make glowey rings and body jewelry. Ahhhh, summer.
