This past Saturday we took a quick trip to the fair. We’ve talked about going for years and on the spur of the moment we did it. What fun! I was amazed at all there was to see and do. The kids loved the baby animals (check out the largest bunny, OMG!). Also pictured are the butter cow, one of the largest pumpkins, a piglet only days old which was born at the fair, and a very cute llama enjoying his fan. My favorite event was the sheep show. I had no idea they were so vocal! It was quite funny.

The finish to the day was knitting displays. Wow! There really were some lovely things. My favorite is the knitting bag I think. It’s really amazing.

After the fair we went to the state capital building for a walk around and DH took a photo of me and the kids. Probably the only photo I’m in all day. Ah well.

I could not figure out how to make these photos larger, sorry. I know it’s annoying. Click on any photo to enlarge.

My father used to call wasting money ‘throwing it down a rat hole’. I think I have seen that rat hole close up.

When we got Middle Child a male pet rat (‘Squeakers’) for his tenth birthday a few weeks ago we tried to get two. They are better pets in pairs. The pet store had only one, so I bought it with the intention of gettting another. And so we did. BUT, the second rat, though it was supposed to also be a male, looked very different down under. Sigh. So, it seems that Squeaker is MISS Squeakers and Cheese, the second rat, is Mr. Cheese. It’s all so complicated.

We bought a new cage, separated them, and now we’re back to solitary rats, which we did not want.

Can anyone see the humor in this very stupid, oh so preventable situation? I’m having a bit of trouble.

Now my concern is that Miss Squeakers has already gotten knocked up. Only time will tell. We’ll know in about three weeks. What a hussy!

Will I ever learn?
